A study of personal archaeology and identity as represented through our everyday objects.
→ Introduction

We Are But a Collection of Things began as an exploration of people’s personal collections. The project was intended to convey the intersection of memory, vulnerability, and the objects we hold dear. Following a later photo study, the work developed to focus on a common keepsake among strangers—our keys and the stories held within them.

Emotion is given form by association with tangible things, as if they are vessels for our being. Thus, that which we may not realize holds value inevitably tells stories about us. Life manifesting in that which we surround ourselves with. We Are But a Collection of Things has since culminated in a short film, projection installation, book production, and website.
